SIRCUIT® develops formulas utilizing the absolute newest breakthroughs in the fields of science, skin chemistry and skin research. We use pharmaceutical/medical grade ingredients, which require a 99.9% level of purity. In short, pharmaceutical or medical grade ingredients are the purest, most concentrated form of any given ingredient available combined with Chirally purified ingredients and a small boutique philosophy.

SIRCUIT® is highly recommended for all skin types, especially for anyone with sensitive skin. Our sole focus here is on restoring and maintaining the balance of your skin with a simple, fast and gentle “be good to yourself approach”.

Since our inception in 2002 SIRCUIT®Cosmeceuticals has always been Paraben-Free. In fact we have never used them. We formulate a unique way, super concentrated, with very little water avoiding the need for Parabens altogether. Because traditional cosmetics and skin care products are formulated with a lot of water (note: first ingredient) and water is where the bacteria thrive, Parabens are the tool used to kill the harmful bacteria in products (which is a good thing), but unfortunately, Parabens themselves may be causing more harm than good. Because they are effective and inexpensive, many companies continue to include them in their formulations, however recent studies have shown that Parabens are a common cause of allergic reactions and skin rashes and have been linked to asthma, eczema and cancer, among other concerns. As an example, in 2004, one study found higher than normal concentrations of Parabens in human breast tumor tissue, but still today Parabens are still used widely as preservatives in skin care. In addition, medical concerns are raised due to the raised estrogen-mimicking properties of Parabens, thought to be a primary factor of increasing the risk of breast cancer.

SIRCUIT® Cosmeceuticals has never formulated with Sodium Laurel Sulfate, commonly known as SLS. Sulfates are caustic detergents (they will clean the grease off your driveway) used by almost every mainstream personal care/ skin care company today. They are included in formulations as grease cutting, foaming agents also known as surfactants. They are in everything from dish soap, toothpaste and even driveway de-greasers. Due to their affordability, sulfates are the easiest way for manufacturers to give customers the “lather” they desire. Sulfates strip the skin, causing various types of irritation and in multiple studies have been shown as a possible link to cancer.

Sodium Laurel Sulfate (SLS) denatures protein (skin and hair are made up of protein). It is also a mutagen. This means that it is capable of changing the information in genetic material found in cells. It is also an eye irritant. One study, to determine the effect of SLS in the eye, found that SLS is rapidly taken up and accumulated by eye tissues and retained for up to five days which is particularly harmful to the developing eyes of young children (amazing and we put this on our skin!). It was also found to cause changes in some proteins of eye tissues and it can extend the healing time in injured eyes. SLS can damage the outer layer of skin, causing dryness, roughness, and scaling, fissuring, loss of flexibility and can reduce the barrier function of normal healthy skin. Sodium Laurel Sulfate is also a comedogenic. To conclude, we don’t believe SLS should ever be used on the skin.

Although they make products smell good and look good, the real reason to exclude artificial color and fragrance from skin care products is that both have been indicated as possible links to cancer and may be a source cause of allergic reactions.

Artificial Colors/Coal Tar dyes: Colors D & C Red 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 17, 19, & 33, Green 5, Orange 17, RD & C Blue 1, 2 & 4, Green 3, Red 4 & 40, Yellow 5 & 6 are also direct carcinogens and some artificial coal tar colors contain heavy metal impurities, including arsenic and lead. In other words, not something we would ever consider adding into any of our formulations.

In SIRCUIT® formulas, the color depends on what ingredients are used. However, please be aware like any fresh, pure product, they can vary slightly from lot to lot depending on different harvests and the raw material sources.

Fragrance is considered the big trade secret with many manufacturers and unfortunately the FDA does not require them to list the ingredients used in formulating their fragrances, scents or perfumes. Most of them are made from synthetic chemicals that can trigger allergies. You see, a single fragrance can contain thousands of different ingredients, many of which can be carcinogenic. Exposure to many of these common ingredients has been linked to symptoms ranging from headache and nausea to sleep problems and depression. Phthalates, often associated with artificial fragrance is considered a hormone disruptor, and is known to cause serious reproductive and developmental effects. We just don’t use this stuff. Never have, never will and you shouldn’t either.
